OZEV Grant — Are You Eligible?
The UK Government's Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Grant (previously OLEV) provides up to £350 off the cost of a home charger and installation for eligible homeowners.
Eligibility requirements:
- You own an eligible electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle
- You have off-street parking (driveway, garage, or car port)
- You are the homeowner or have permission from your landlord
As an OZEV-approved installer, we handle the grant application for you. You just provide proof of vehicle ownership.
How the Installation Works
- Book a survey — we assess your property, discuss charger options, and provide a fixed quote
- We apply for the grant — if eligible, we handle the OZEV grant paperwork on your behalf
- Installation day — most installations take 2–4 hours. We connect to your existing consumer unit, run cabling, and mount the charger
- Commissioning and testing — we test the charger, connect to Wi-Fi, and walk you through the app
- Certification — you receive an Electrical Installation Certificate for the new circuit

Frequently Asked Questions — EV Charger Installation
Do I need to upgrade my consumer unit first?
Most modern homes (with a consumer unit installed in the last 15 years) won't need upgrading. We'll assess this as part of our survey. If an upgrade is needed, we'll quote for both together.
Can I install a charger if I rent?
You'll need your landlord's permission. The OZEV grant may be available to renters in some cases — we'll advise when you contact us.
How long does installation take?
Most home installations are completed in 2–4 hours on a single day. Commercial installs with multiple units take longer — we'll give you a timeline at survey stage.
What's the difference between 3.7kW and 7.4kW chargers?
3.7kW chargers use a single-phase 16-amp supply and add roughly 15 miles of range per hour. 7.4kW chargers use a single-phase 32-amp supply and add roughly 30 miles per hour. Most properties can support 7.4kW — we'll confirm during the survey.
